Diary: Beattie lands stunning prize at Esquire bash

Anyone flicking through Esquire this month may have stumbled across the familiar face of the media's favourite adman, Trevor Beattie, having a swell time at the Man At The Top awards.

Given that the curly haired Brummie has just lined his pockets with a hefty wodge of cash, following the sale of a stake in Beattie McGuinness Bungay to Cheil Worldwide, his presence at the awards, which gathers together the sharpest business minds in town, was well deserved.

But it wasn't just Beattie's pockets that were overflowing - Diary would love to know the identity of the creative's mystery date, who was clearly giving Beattie the ample attention he deserved.

Listed only in Esquire as a "friend", Diary wonders if Beattie's wealth has given him more than just financial security and the odd space flight - has the bachelor found love?

Beattie's arm-candy was certainly in good company, with Elle Macpherson, Mariella Frostrup and Tamara Mellon also bringing a touch of glamour to the testosterone- (and alcohol-) fuelled proceedings.
