DIARY: Bitter smell of failure as threat of terrorists' attack hits Disaronno

Although a terrorist chemical attack on the London Underground was foiled at the weekend, the threat remains depressingly real. Cyanide seems to be the terrorists' poison of choice, known for its ability to provide a quick but agonising death and its distinctive smell of bitter almonds.

Such an inconvenience to Disaronno, the Italian liqueur which honks of marzipan, almond and cherry, which has decided to drop the ambient element of its current London Underground campaign. It involved wafting the scent through tube stations.
