Diary: Breaking (and entering) into adland made simple

Diary has been witness to many (often cringeworthy) attempts by desperate creatives to break into the ad industry. But, if getting in is tricky, being recognised once you're there is doubly so.

So enter Chris Dodd and Rob Hainsworth, the latest creative grads to swing these hardships to their advantage. Their method? Break into advertising ... literally.

In a bid to show that all you have to do is look smart, the plucky pair donned some pin-striped suits and, uninvited, turned up at the Goodge Street offices of Euro RSCG.

The sly students casually walked past reception and made their way up into the airy wood-panelled offices. Of course, the busy account teams, new-business execs or planners who saw the devious duo had no time to clock they were effectively intruders.

Their destination? Gerry Moira's creative department. The pair duly arrived there and shifted some toys around before casually strolling back out of the agency.

Does Euro RSCG need to ramp up its security efforts? Well, given the team had a video camera, and played the same prank at McCann Erickson, Bartle Bogle Hegarty and TBWA\London, it seems the entire industry does.

Diary reckons that if someone doesn't give these two a permanent home soon, the plucky pair is likely to pitch up at your agency.
