Diary: Cannes gets wrecked

The people of Cannes are used to having their nice little Riviera resort trashed throughout June by a marauding wave of destruction at the hands of the unbridled influx of destructive and thirsty film, adland and porn types.

However, the resort's unfortunate residents were struck by a different trail of destruction this week (one that they can't compensate for by charging ridiculous prices) after the French town was hit by freak waves, some as high as ten feet, that caused major damage to more than 20 restaurants and numerous beach constructions.

However, no mention was made of damage to Croisette 72, better known as the Gutter Bar. Adland waits with bated breath.
