Diary: Chain gang runners break a marathon world record

Every year, Diary toasts those adlanders that run the Flora London Marathon, as well as running the usual story of a creative who ran as the back end of a horse.

However, this year there is cause for a real fanfare as Ollie Gibson from Grey and Matt Skelding from ZenithOptimedia actually managed to break a world record.

Raising thousands of pounds for Shelter and Dreams Come True, the pair, and 15 of their friends, dressed up as convicts and tied themselves together in a replication of a chain gang. They entered the Guinness Book of Records as "the biggest number of people tied together to finish a marathon".

Also, Diary feels a special mention should go to Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R's Man of Steel Chris Hunton, who took an overnight flight from Singapore on Saturday and still finished in three hours and 37 minutes.

Diary's records show that the fastest time in adland was by the Ogilvy Advertising art director, Paul Miles, who finished in an astounding three hours, seven minutes and ten seconds.

Other adlanders to finish include: Ben Wilkinson, Jeremy Sinton, Victoria Henson, Al Brown, Lucy Howard, Ben Kay, David Finch, Phil Holbrook, John Paul Cadman, Rebecca Kingdon, Robert Ditcham, Rob Ellison, Richard Astley, Selina Heathcote, Will Handley, Sophie Stewart, Caroline Britt, Tom Ellis Jones, Celina Eude, Georgie MacPhail, John Riddle and Jamie Tutton.
