Diary: Claydon enters a world of car porn via Top Gear

Finally, Diary has found hard evidence that direct marketing is a glamorous industry.

The envied man sitting in his very own Aston Martin DB5 surrounded by busty beauties in this month's Top Gear magazine is none other than Jon Claydon, the founder and chairman of Claydon Heeley.

In a feature proclaiming him as "Being James Bond", he was tasked with sitting back in his pride and joy and taking in the scene going on around him, proving that this industry really is hard work sometimes.

However, a quick look at Claydon's face in the main picture, where he peers over the wheel through a forest of curvaceous models, shows that he looks much more terrified than heroic.

As part of the feature, he was also asked to write a piece celebrating the DB5's second place in a poll of the 100 sexiest cars in which he describes how he restored his vehicle.

Proving that he has a sense of humour, on his reasons for undertaking such a dramatic restoration job, he writes: "It would be an inheritance for my two-year-old son and one guaranteed, what's more, to ensure he'd lose his virginity at a time of his choosing."

Talking about the style and sex appeal of his big machine, Claydon writes: "I've had to stop my other half using it because when she does she tents the trousers of every male in London."
