Diary: Comedian Thomson slates Tesco on Twitter

One of the best things about social networking is the way it creates a forum for airing grievances.

John Thomson, the actor who played Fay Ripley's husband in Cold Feet, this week decided that Twitter was the best way to attack Tesco after an actor who looks a bit like Thomson was cast alongside Ripley in one of its ads.

He wrote: "JohhnyThomspn2 knows exactly what they (Tesco) were thinking when they cast the new Tesco ads with Fay Ripley. He feels insulted, angry and most of all poor. Grrr." He then says: "I know Mark Addy from the ad, he's a lovely man. We used to look alike, but not any more. The creatives and casting are at fault."
