DIARY: CRASH AND BURN - Sun sales executive Guy Gibbs takes a dive on a freebie trip to Spain

The Sun’s Guy Gibbs was looking forward to three days in the

Marbella heat courtesy of the Collins Partnership’s annual conference.

That is, until the night before departure, when he was asked what the

subject of his presentation was going to be.

Gibbs felt a chill run down his spine, but somehow resisted the

temptation to blurt out: ’What bloody presentation?’

Burning the midnight oil, he cobbled something together on his laptop

and just managed to make the early morning flight from Gatwick. Next

day, the delegates assembled around the swimming pool to give their

presentations. Gibbs was up first.

After apologising for the rushed nature of his piece, and checking that

everyone could see the screen of his laptop in the sun’s glare, he got

off to a brisk start.

Seconds later, his spirits began to sink. The hooting and jeering led by

the Evening Standard’s Ben Davey could only mean one thing - a stitch

up. His red face was cooled by a nifty dive into the hotel pool.
