It first arrived in Cannes with a lot of hope and expectation but, like the rest of us, came home knackered and slightly defeated. The genius idea to bring ice-cream to the South of France (a bit like the one involving a shipment of coal to Newcastle) hit the skids when the Mr Whippy-style ice-cream maker in the vehicle broke down in the heat. The guys in the van, Ben Newman and Milo Williams, who deserve a Lion for not ditching it in the Med, had to make do with hand-scooping the stuff instead. The technical glitch didn't get the better of them, though - over the course of the 2,000km round trip, they gave out 1,200 ice-creams.
Leo Burnett's Cannes ice-cream van, Leo Cornett, has finally made it back to Blighty.
