We’re not sure that the Leisure Process’s John Carver will take kindly
to being forever nicknamed Meat, but then, knowing most creatives, he’ll
probably enjoy it.
Meat, aka Meat Stack, featured prominently in, well, a feature in this
month’s Loaded magazine, imaginatively entitled ‘How to get off your
head in advertising’. In said piece, Carver was supposed to be directing
the filming of a commercial for the new compilation, House Collection
vol 3. However, accompanying him on the trip to Ibiza were assorted
journalists from the likes of Loaded.
James Brown, Loaded’s editor and a pretty cool bloke according to
Campaign’s editorial assistant [how does she know? Ed], then proceeded
to give a no-holds-barred account of what went on on the shoot, which
does a lot to debunk years of propaganda put out by the production
industry that’s it’s not all sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll.
‘Every time I checked the Meat Stack, the bloke who was supposed to be
doing the filming, he was sticking his tongue down the throat of his
gorgeous girlfriend,’ Brown began. ‘These are the priorities you need to
be a film director. Use your tongue and your brains and let some other
fucker carry the expensive German film equipment.’
Did Mr Brown or Mr Carver (‘a proper bloody Fellini’) actually direct
the finished film? Has anyone seen the finished film?
‘‘Can you pull her knickers down a bit?’ said the stylist.’ Whatever
happened to fun in advertising?
