The term 'moonlighting' took on a double meaning over Christmas for Chris Ambler, the commercial director at the agency WARL, when the one-time DJ found himself back behind the decks for a graveyard session courtesy of his client at Jazz FM, none other than the ex-chairman of Leo Burnett, Richard Wheatly.
Interestingly, Ambler chose to do Wheatly's show under the guise of his former alter ego, Chris Buckingham. ''Ambler' wasn't sufficiently cool for the new millennium,' he says - although what makes 'Buckingham' so new-age is not yet clear. Ambler's performance drew praise ranging from 'natural and stylish' by Jazz FM's director of programming, to the hilariously non-committal 'allegedly it was quite a critical success' by an unnamed source. Campaign is waiting to see if the next Rajar figures will reveal a seasonal uplift before it passes any judgment.
