Diary: DMA brawlers' trial is set to go the distance

Ding-ding. Seconds out. It's all set up for round two of the Direct Marketing Awards punch-up.

In the red corner, Timothy Clegg, Chemistry's art director; in the blue corner, Shaun Crawford, of the Chelmsford-based packaging company DMS, who is accused of flooring his opponent during a late-night fracas after the gongs had been handed out at Grosvenor House last year.

The venue: Southwark Crown Court, where Crawford has pleaded not guilty to committing actual bodily harm.

Last month, the jury failed to be totally knocked out by the defence or prosecution arguments, so a retrial has been set for December. Only one outcome is certain; more pain in the purse for taxpayers.
