Diary: Forget Jamie Oliver, Cilla is Sainsbury's real star

It comes as no surprise that WPP's Sir Martin Sorrell came in the top five people in business in the Evening Standard's list of the 1,000 most influential Londoners.

But what did take Diary aback was that Cilla Snowball, the chairman of Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, was included under retail.

Separated from her adland colleagues, Snowball was selected for AMV's Sainsbury's campaigns, fronted by Jamie Oliver, which have been, the paper claims, instrumental in reviving the retailer.

Other figures from adland listed were Charles Saatchi, who made the top five in art and design, Mother's Robert Saville and CHI & Partners' Johnny Hornby.

On the press front, The Guardian's Emily Bell and Carolyn McCall joined the PR guru Matthew Freud and Charles Dunstone, The Carphone Warehouse co-founder.
