Diary: Grimmer does Phil and Kirsty act for Sir Martin

They're generous at ZenithOptimedia. Always on the lookout for opportunities for their rivals.

Take, for instance, Greg Grimmer, the managing director of ZenithOptimedia's Zed agency. Overcome with emotion, and possibly liquid substances, Grimmer recently dashed off an e-mail to WPP's Sir Martin Sorrell to advise him of a real-estate opportunity.

ZenithOptimedia is vacating its Paddington offices from 1 May. WPP, via its acquisition of Cordiant (a former Zenith Media co-owner), owns the lease on ZenithOptimedia's North Wharf Road location.

So Grimmer wrote to Sir Martin to suggest he move his MediaCom agency into the Paddington Basin shed. "The word on the street is that one of your group companies, MediaCom UK, are looking for premises of a similar size. Maybe you would like to suggest they take a look at these excellent premises in one of London's most up-and- coming areas," Grimmer wrote.

Though Grimmer has yet to hear back from Sir Martin, the Euston-based MediaCom must be so thankful for his suggestions.
