Diary: Harle left housebound

Being friends with Work Club's chairman, Jon Claydon, does have its benefits, but as one executive creative director found out, it also has its drawbacks.

Chemistry's Pete Harle thought he would spoil his wife by taking her to Claydon's private getaway country house in a sleepy idyllic town in the Cotswolds for a romantic weekend.

However, the pair were rudely awakened by a bus full of Japanese tourists, who pulled up outside to take pictures of them through the window. Claydon had failed to mention that his house is, in fact, a historic site because it was Catherine Parr's dowry to Henry VIII, which daily attracts scores of inquisitive tourists.
