We enjoyed the Daihatsu Hijet MPV ads comparing the vehicle with
Porsches and Lamborghinis almost as much as we enjoyed Trevor Beattie’s
review of them the other week. ‘Sad on wheels,’ our Trev said of
Porsches, questioning the virility of their drivers.
So, no prizes for guessing which car the Banks Hoggins O’Shea art
director of the ads, Richard Dennison, went out and bought the very same
week the Daihatsu ad broke. That’s right, it wasn’t the rather sexy-
looking Hijet MPV.
We are equally grateful to Dennison’s colleague, Markham Smith, for
pointing this out to us. And we are sure that Markham does display the
brand loyalty so curiously lacking in his partner.
