DIARY: Hoggins and O'Shea: two social climbers

Imagine your surprise if, after toiling up Table Mountain in Cape

Town, who should you bump into but none other than the master of

apartheid abolition, Nelson Mandela.

Such was the case for Ken Hoggins and Chris O'Shea, the creative

partners at Banks Hoggins O'Shea/FCB, who were in South Africa on

shoot.

More discrete souls would have quailed at the thought of approaching

such a man, but Hoggins and O'Shea's first thought was seize the chance

to give Trevor Beattie a run for his money by asking if they could have

a photo taken with Mandela.

Perhaps not the most obvious reason for a snap, but then, hey, this is

advertising.
