Diary: To Hollywood via Essex

One of our favourite media agency heads, the former Big Brother contestant and author Jonathan Durden, has had a very hectic schedule these past few months.

Not only is he looking after a new daughter, Ava, but he is now flitting between England and Spain, readying himself for the big-screen debut of his novel Essex, Drugs & Rock 'n' Roll.

Those touted to play the lead role of the advertising executive Mark Cohen include Nick Moran, from Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, and Green Wing's Stephen Mangan, but sources are keeping tight-lipped about the final cast list.

Durden is currently working on his second novel, The Tragic Roundabout, which tracks the relationship between a hardened fortysomething doctor, Mary Christmas, and a "creative walking landmine with the Midas touch", Milton Bazildon.
