Diary: Late bloomer Ajaz swaps tie for Mr Adland UK sash

The more narcissistic and self- promotion-seeking of adland's inhabitants will no doubt be casting an envious eye over Ajaz Ahmed after the AKQA chairman was named the second-sexiest man in advertising.

Ahmed narrowly missed out on the top spot in a recent global poll from the bloggers at Agency Spy (http://agencyspy.wordpress.com), who voted Geoff Edwards, the senior vice-president of the San Francisco TAG unit at McCann Erickson, the world's fittest adman.

But the plaudits have to go to Ahmed, who has come on leaps and bounds since the 90s, having shed the hair gel, enormous specs and boring suit.

Given that the blog is run from the US, it was perhaps unsurprising that the list was dominated by American-based talent, with Dave Droga, the founder of Droga5, third; Feh Tarty, the Goodby Silverstein & Partners art director, fourth; and Jose Molla, the founder of La Comunidad in Miami, sixth.

However, the UK-based talent wasn't totally forgotten. Fallon's diminutive pin-up Juan Cabral proved he has looks like no other by securing the seventh spot.

Oh well Moray McLennan, there's always next year.
