Hats off to Marcus Vinton. The Los Angeles-bound chief creative officer of Leo Burnett's interactive TV venture, Spring, is already pulling the right strings in la-la land as he gets to grips with his new career (placing brands in movies, if you must know).

How can we be so sure? Well, Vinton was overheard in Leo Burnett's reception recently, with his mobile in his hand, furiously name-checking one of the film industry's leading lights, Steven Spielberg.

The deal appeared to hinge on Spielberg's willingness to stump up the readies for some product placement deal or other.

Reports that Vinton's mobile phone actually rang during this exchange can be dismissed as mischief-making by extra-terrestrial forces.
