In the first of a new series in which the Diary reproduces the most fatuous, self-aggrandising or pain-fully ’witty’ quote to have passed through its doors during a week of press releases and phone calls, this week’s Mistress of Spin is Maria Florey, the marketing communications manager of Epson UK, on its sponsorship of the Robbie Williams tour.

’We’re really excited to join up with Robbie to help bring the tour to

the UK this autumn,’ she gushes, adding (and how we wish she hadn’t):

’We’ve got great equipment - just like Robbie!’ Tim Clark of IE Music’s

response, in which he compares Robbie to an Epson digital printer, is

nearly as bad, but space, luckily, is limited.
