Never let it be said that the Diary is the sort to make cruel jibes in
the light of Peter Mead, chairman of Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO and
Millwall FC, being appointed a non-executive director of Wembley.
Potential jokes among the less sensitive media include words to the
effect that ‘it’s the closest Millwall will ever get to Wembley’.
We would not lower ourselves to repeat them here, partly because
Wembley’s share price shot up as a result, but mostly because Mead now
has access to still more top tickets and, of course, Leeds have reached
the final of the Coca-Cola cup which will be played at Wembley soon.
A week on Sunday, actually, Peter.
