Diary: NatMag bees innocent

The National Magazine Company was the source of a bit of unwelcome buzz last week after a thousand-strong swarm of honeybees hit Soho.

National newspapers reported that bees had descended on to lamp-posts on Wardour Street, just around the corner from NatMag's office - which has a rooftop garden housing two beehives. Staff at the publisher were immediately suspicious and rumours began to circulate that the hives were suddenly and mysteriously empty. Not true, NatMag insisted, saying: "They're not our bees. Bees that swarm are unhappy bees; our bees are very happy."
