And after a few years of austerity, Diary is pleased to see that all the big agencies have reverted back to trying to outdo each other by throwing the best Cannes party. The early favourite to be this year's hot ticket is what promises to be an epic birthday party for David Ogilvy, as the agency he founded in 1948 is celebrating what would have been the advertising legend's 100th birthday. Rumour is that Ogilvy is setting up a mile-long red carpet for the event, which will accommodate the great and good of adland. We shudder to think the scale of debauchery that CHI & Partners will have to cook up on its boat in order to top that.
It's June, so that means that the industry's migration to sunny (we hope) southern France is just weeks away.
