Diary: Philippines brandy ad promotes child's play

Brandy has been in the throes of a marketing makeover in recent years. So the company that distributes Napoleon brandy in the Philippines thought it was being right-on with ads asking: "Have you tasted a 15-year-old yet?"

Hardly surprising that, in a country believed to have 100,000 child prostitutes, the campaign has gone down like a cup of cold sick.

Women's groups are in uproar. However, Destilieria Limtuaco, the company behind the ads, is standing by its work, claiming the slogan is just a catchy way to sell brandy and issuing a damages claim against the country's ad watchdog, which has banned the campaign.
