Diary: Polo, not speed dating, is the fastest way to pull

Clare Salmon, one of the UK's best-known and most colourful marketers, has never been one to do things by halves. And she's just proved it again by getting spliced after a whirlwind romance.

The former ITV marketing director went off to Pakistan for a spot of polo and found a husband in the space of five weeks.

Salmon (pictured), who now holds a senior marketing role at Royal & SunAlliance, met Ayyaz Sheikh in Lahore on 29 November - and tied the knot on 2 January. Oh yes, she also won a polo tournament hours after the ceremony.

Salmon's immediate challenge will be sorting out a UK visa for her spouse. However, this should be no test of persuasiveness for Salmon, who, in 2005, got Porsche to paint her new Boxster pink to match her favourite pink Gina slingbacks.
