It can have its upsides - sunny beaches, glamour models - and its downsides - dismal cities, pouring rain and freezing wind.
For the latter, many have spent years investing in all sorts of weatherproof gear to keep them warm on those long wet and cold days.
So, over the years, adland creatives have built up wardrobes full of rarely worn gear that could be going to much better use.
With this in mind, Adam & Eve, Blink and a host of London production companies have launched The Big Wrap, an initiative asking anyone with piles of all-weather clothes to bring them to drop-off points around London between 10 August and 9 October.
After this date, they will be collected and taken to the homelessness charity Centrepoint.
