Diary: On the QT ...

On Friday, Michael Baulk officially left the AMV BBDO building for the final time. So the agency spent the afternoon in Regent's Park celebrating his career.

In an all-staff jape, everyone turned up in blue jeans and white shirt with a red jumper draped over their shoulders, Michael's favoured attire. The day ended when Baulk was shown a spoof video of his beloved Ferrari being driven to a junkyard and crushed into a cube ...

Simon Clemmow's 50th birthday bash was a little less formal as it turned into a full-on festival with Gerry Moira from Euro RSCG and Wieden & Kennedy's Neil Christie battling it out on stage with their bands. And in true festival fashion,the stars roughed it by sleeping in tents in Clemmow's field ...

However, they were not the only adlanders sleeping outdoors last week.To save a few quid while watching the World Cup, some of DFGW's big cheeses not only eschewed air travel in favour of the train, they saved on hotels by sleeping at Dusseldorf train station ...

The Diary can scarcely imagine the mood at the JWT summer party last week. The event unfortunately coincided with the news that Reckitt Benckiser was moving the JWT portion of its global business into Euro RSCG worldwide, a fact that Alison Burns and Toby Hoare only learned from an all staff e-mail from Bob Jeffrey. Ouch.
