In August,ITV's Clare Salmon, the woman who once took a pair of pink shoes into a Porsche dealership to demand a car in a matching colour, will be riding horseback for 400 miles across the Mongolian steppes with her 11-year-old daughter in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

For two-and-a-half weeks, the pair will ride for seven hours a day, eat nothing but blow-torched marmot and mutton, drink fermented mares' milk and sleep in a Ger trying to keep away from snow leopards and bears. When this constitutes a holiday, it makes you wonder just how bad it gets in ITV's offices ...

The five sales director, Kelly Williams, incurred the disapproval of the former England cricketer and professional Yorkshireman Geoffrey Boycott last week at Lords. His crime: wearing jeans to a day at the Test. Although the Lords rules do not stipulate that spectators must wear trousers, Boycott was aghast at Williams' sartorial error, muttering "jeans!" to himself as he left the box.
