Who is the wanker who got on his soapbox about rival sales people
not helping each other out (Rant, 20 March)? Perhaps if he woke up and
smelt the coffee he would understand that competitor titles are hardly
likely to join forces and work together just because we are all members
of the human race.
The market is tight enough without helping your competitors by supplying
them with ammunition with which to shoot you down.
I thought selling was for tough go-getters who were creative in
obtaining information and making the all-important sale. Clearly I was
wrong. Just how did these lily-livered, wet, liberal sales people get a
job in the media market in the first place?
At the end of the day, nobody is in sales because they want to donate
their time and offer Christian aid to clients. Selling is all about
money - getting as much out of your clients as possible. It’s like those
bloody namby-pamby mission statements that go on about helping customers
and providing a cuddly working environment. Wake up.
So next time your competitor picks up the phone and asks for a favour -
tell them to stuff it, and make your market a more exciting place to
