Diary: River view turns grisly for Agency Republic

Ah, the joys of a river view, particularly in the urban jungle that is our capital city. The digital specialist Agency Republic is particularly proud of the view from the boardroom at its Battersea Bridge Road headquarters, a shining vista that takes in every curve of the Thames as it meanders up to the City.

So proud, in fact, that the floor-to-ceiling windows are often revealed with a flourish from behind a cleverly disguised sliding wall during meetings.

But work and client meetings both were stopped in their tracks when the riverbank just below the office began swarming with hordes of the boys in blue. Agency Republic's staff and clients then watched in horror as the body of a headless corpse was dragged out of the Thames before their very eyes.

No wonder security at the building is so tight - now visitors are forced to identify themselves and state their business before they are even permitted to set foot in the foyer.

Never have the perils of working on the wrong side of the river been more in evidence.
