DIARY: Our Ronald makes a spectacle of himself for his 50th birthday

‘A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!’

‘A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!’

Could it be Olivier? Gielgud maybe? Or even Richard III? No, i’ faith.

’Tis young Ronald Leagas, verily, in cake decoration form.

For it was the bold idea of Chloe March, secretary to Leagas Shafron’s

creative supremo, Steve Grime, to bake a cake by way of celebration for

Ronald’s 50th birthday last week.

And as her inspiration, she used the photo of Ron treading the boards

that we published several months ago (Campaign, 24 November 1995).

The Diary would like to seize this opportunity to run yet another silly

picture of Ronald (as he is known in thespian circles) in the general

spirit of causing maximum embarrassment as often and as unnecessarily as

possible.

Readers may like to keep to themselves their views on the likeness

between the cakey Ron and the man himself, but Chloe has a bulging order

book with clients such as Maurice Saatchi and Sting queueing up for her

creative confections.

Talented people, these adfolk - acting, cake-making, whatever next? The

Diary would like to hear from anyone else who has an interesting life

outside of advertising, so it may poke fun accordingly.
