DIARY: Saatchis shut up by a mob of surly students

On their return from a highly successful year at Cannes, the crazy guys at Saatchi %26 Saatchi decided to continue the fun and throw a celebratory agency party, with the added bonus of having the next day off.

But the lavish do, organised with DJs, loud music, food and lashings of alcohol, was surprisingly short-lived because of an invasion of students - and we're not talking about gatecrashers.

The slipper-and-dressing gown-clad mob from the halls of residence opposite Saatchis' Charlotte Street offices were keen to break up the enthusiastic partying of the agency staffers, who by 2am were falling out on to the street singing bad karaoke.

So, in a most unstudent-like manner, the sleep-deprived killjoys called in the police for a bit of hush hush, who arrived en masse and put an end to the raucous behaviour.
