Diary: Starcom staff become street people for a night

Times have been tough in the media world, but we didn't think it had reached quite this degree of hardship.

People from Starcom were spotted sleeping rough in Spitalfields in London's East End last week. Among those discussing media strategy over a fire in a burnt-out barrel was the agency's managing director, Alastair Bannerman.

But, fear not, it was all for a good cause. The hardy types at Starcom volunteered to spend a night under the stars to support their client homelessness charity Centrepoint.

It just shows the lengths to which agencies will go to keep clients sweet these days. They raised more than £3,000 and the night went so well that they've threatened to bring the shy and retiring group trading director, Chris Locke, next year. Diary thinks the homeless have enough to deal with.
