DIARY: Swingers get bubbles, Derungs is in trouble

It was time to dust off the silverware at Publicis last week when the agency's entire account management pitted their wits against each other for a gruelling pop quiz.

The rabble, which worked out at 15 teams of eight, battled it out over six rounds of tough questions spanning five decades of music.

The City Swingers (otherwise known as the Post Office account team) triumphed, netting themselves some Champagne and a sparkling trophy.

Still, it looked suspiciously like a case of sour grapes when the team that had crept in at last place refused to believe they'd lost and demanded the organisers recount.

The annual account handling awards followed the quiz, with the accolade for the best account handler going to Allied Domecq's Stephanie Park.

However, the winner of the biggest faux pas prize went to the client services director, Simon Derungs. Talking about the hiring of a new PA, he claimed the girl in question had been handpicked by her new boss for reasons that would become obvious when she joined ... not realising she was in the room.
