Diary: Taking a nostalgia trip

Diary must apologise to our younger readers as nostalgia for the good old days starts to take over these pages.

The reason being that veteran advertising creatives are making a beeline for memory lane and are determined to take the rest of us down there with them. One such member of the old guard, Brian Watson, who worked on the Daily Mail account for 25 years (for which he must surely deserve some sort of medal), has brought out a new book that unashamedly basks in 50s nostalgia. The book (an image from which is pictured below left) is called Black Jacks, Fruit Salads, Cricket Stumps On The Wall.
