Ian Darby can't summon any seasonal goodwill for Publicis' Christmas ad for Asda: "Dress Julie Walters as an elf, get her to do a funny voice but do it in the worse possible way imaginable. Then get her to patronise your audience by explaining what the word 'wicked' means when kids use it and repeat until you make people turn over to BBC1. I've always loved an Asda bargain but viewing this spot makes me want to slap Julie's arse in a violent fashion. Cheap toss, even by Asda's standards."
