Diary: Unlimited earners

Forget bankers' bonus cheques, Diary was taking a sharp intake of breath when browsing Kingston Smith W1's list of the industry's highest-paid independent agency directors in last week's issue of Campaign.

Sitting pretty at the top of the table was Bartle Bogle Hegarty, which paid one lucky director a monumental £935,000 last year. The agency topped the list just ahead of Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, Wieden & Kennedy UK, Fallon London and, curiously, The Gate, which increased the wage of the highest earner by 92 per cent year on year.

The "undisclosed" list can only leave us to speculate who adland's highest earners are. Who's your money on? Bogle? Hegarty?
