Stretch the Horizon has beefed up its management team with the

appointment of a new-business director, Chris Searson.

His brief at STH is not only to bring in new clients but to steer the

agency towards greater activity in new media, including online marketing

and interactive digital TV.

Searson’s background spans the client side, below-the-line and

above-the-line agencies, but he worked most recently at the internet

company, Taxi Interactive, as the European vice-president of sales and

marketing.

In the past he developed electronic commerce for clients like

Playstation and Sainbury’s.

’Too many agencies think that online advertising is just a banner ad on

a website and there are so many more opportunities than that. Marketers

must learn to use the web more effectively. It’s the ideal forum to

build a meaningful two-way relationship with customers,’ he said.

Mark Sheard, the managing director of STH, said: ’The reason for Chris’s

appointment is his passionate commitment to exploiting the potential of

online activity. Stretch the Horizon is one of Sky’s roster agencies and

it firmly believes that the marketing opportunities in the digital area

are enormous.’

Chris Arnold, creative director at STH, added: ’TV advertising in the

future will offer limitless opportunities for combining all sorts of

different disciplines from sponsorships to promotional link-ups or

infomercials.’
