While TV's survivors munch on bugs, Doritos - sponsors of Survivor II: The Australian Outback - is offering internet users a tastier option.
To boost its brand tie-in with the hit CBS series, the potato chip manufacturer Frito-Lay has launched two interactive online Survivor theme games. Throughout the series fans can play Doritos Fantasy Survivor Game and The Fantasy Survivor Game Reward Round by going to www.doritos.com or by clicking the Doritos logo on the official Survivor site.
Teaming with online fantasy game designer Small World Media, Doritos enables users to create their own team from the Survivor contestants, and then follow its performance throughout the series, or link up to play against friends. The Reward Round asks fans to predict which person will be voted off the show each week, and if they're correct they are eligible for a dollars 10,000 prize draw at the end of the series.
The games, which kicked off with the show premiere on Super Bowl Sunday, will add an online component that fits with Doritos' offline promotion throughout Survivor.
'The games offer a great extension to Doritos' involvement with the show,' said Mark Jacobstein, CEO of Small World Media. 'Because of their high interactivity, online games provide an ideal application for sponsorships.'
Doritos will also use traditional tools to promote its involvement with the show, including store displays and promotional packaging as well as banner ads on the Survivor site and Doritos home page.
