DoubleClick has promoted Eric Stein to the post of managing director of DoubleClick UK following the departure of Andy Mitchell to AltaVista UK.
Stein, who will take on the role immediately, joins from DoubleClick International in New York. He has played a lead role in the launch of DoubleClick across 20 countries.
Stein will lead the UK management team headed by the sales director, Richard Firminger, and Anne-Catrin Sallaba, business development director.
DoubleClick has an exclusive global sales agreement with AltaVista, which is valid until the end of 2001 and covers all web properties owned by AltaVista worldwide.
The terms of the contract include a non-hire, non-poach clause, which prohibits AltaVista from hiring employees from DoubleClick.
However, DoubleClick agreed to create an exemption for Mitchell and facilitated his talks with AltaVista.
"We were fully aware of the discussions taking place between Andy Mitchell and Alta Vista from the initial stages and support his decision to join Alta Vista's UK team," said Barry Salzman, president of International at DoubleClick.
