Dunnhumby boosts media data offering

LONDON - Lawrence Janes, the former Initiative and Carat director, has resurfaced at the customer data company dunnhumby in a new role designed to help advertisers make use of data.

Janes joins dunnhumby as the head of media solutions and development, and will work with media agencies and clients on using its Tesco Clubcard data to aid media planning. He joins an existing media team at dunnhumby and is tasked with linking its transactional data with FMCG advertising campaigns.

Dunnhumby, which is majority owned by Tesco, but is run as a separate business, manages data on 12 million Tesco customers and their transactions, and has relationships with retailers, including Kroger's in the US and Casino in France.

Janes' initial focus will be on the UK, before working with international clients and agencies. He said: "I'm looking forward to helping organisations apply this insight to deliver the most effective media strategy."

Other dunnhumby clients include Gillette, Procter & Gamble, GlaxoSmithKline and Unilever.
