- Greg Dyke, director-general designate of the BBC, marked his first day at the corporation with the launch of a review of the broadcast directorate.
Dyke began his BBC career yesterday. For his first five months, he will shadow the out-going director-general, Sir John Birt.
The corporation's directorate employs around 5,000 people, and is responsible for commissioning and scheduling for TV, radio and online educational programming.
