EADS hunts network for global account

The European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company has started to approach media networks about pitching for its global planning and buying task.

EADS, which manufacturers Airbus, is conducting the review out of its headquarters in Germany. It is at the early stages of putting together a pitch, which will cover corporate advertising for Airbus and its other products.

The search for a media agency follows news of a creative agency pitch for the business (Campaign, 6 October). A part of the task will be to advertise the much-hyped launch of the giant Airbus A380 passenger plane, which has already had to be put back until next year.

Activity is expected to be business-to-business in focus, with some limited advertising in the consumer sector.

EADS now owns 100 per cent of Airbus, having acquired BAE Systems' 20 per cent stake. This followed a management restructure at Airbus, which saw the departure of Christian Streiff as its chief executive. EADS has revenues of EUR34.2 billion and employs 113,000 staff.
