New to the 2014 show, which took place last year at the Excel Centre, are a series of brand experience suites, which will give companies the chance to host intimate experiential events away from the main site.
The line-up includes rum masterclasses and tastings from El Dorado, mixology sessions from Bacardi, a multi-sensory history lesson from Mount Gay’s international brand ambassador, Miguel Smith, an interactive walkthrough of Angostura’s distilling and aging process, a Cuban-inspired seminar with Havana Club’s master blender Don Morales and a tiki cocktail masterclass with Mayfair club Mahiki.
Auction house Christie’s will also be at the event, auctioning off rare bottles of rum in support of charity WaterAid. A bottle of Ron Bacardi de Maestors de ron MMXII 150 Anniversary rum is expected to sell for between £800 and £1,000.
The UK arm of Rumfest is presented by The Rum Experience, an independent company formed of founder Ian Burrell and event organiser Emma Pineiro. Alongside the consumer event, Boutique Rumfest has been designed to target trade and press.
Burrell said: "UK Rumfest offers rum brands from across the globe to showcase their new or established brands to an audience who suits their objectives and ambitions. Our ambitions are to propel the rum category even further within the industry and to educate those who are eager to learn and discover.
"Those who know me well understand the great passion and love I have for rum and it's with great pleasure to be able to create an event to be enjoyed by all."
