Ecco reviews £30m global media business

LONDON - The Danish footwear manufacturer Ecco is reviewing its estimated £30 million global media planning and buying account.

Universal McCann, the incumbent, is expected to compete for the global brief.

The retailer currently spends around £500,000 in the UK but has plans to up its spend ahead of a major brand push in the autumn.

The pitch is being handled by Creativebrief, which has sent a request for information to several media agencies and is now drawing up a shortlist.

Ecco, which has recently launched stores in Oxford, Guildford and Manchester, was founded in 1963 in Bredebro in Denmark and is owned by the Toosbuy family.

The company is primarily focused on the children's shoe market, although it does have product ranges that include outdoor and sports footwear. The company also has a focus on ecological credentials.

Ecco was not available for comment.
