Editor in chief appointed at Guardian Unlimited

- Emily Bell has been appointed editor-in chief across the whole of the Guardian Unlimited network. Bell, who is currently executive editor of the MediaGuardian.co.uk, will work closely with Alan Rusbridger – editor of the Guardian - and the head of Guardian Unlimited Simon Waldman. She will be responsible for all of the editorial activities across the Guardian Unlimited network.

Bell was previously the business editor of the Observer before joining Guardian Unlimited last year. Rusbridger said: "The increasing relevance of the internet has created the need for a new position at Guardian Unlimited to ensure editorial cohesion between the paper and its web operations."
