Editorial: Alcohol ads do not create binge-drinkers

What planet does the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs inhabit?

Alcohol ads on TV should be banned because they encourage binge-drinking, the council has told ministers. Nonsense. Relaxed licensing laws and "happy hours" are the real culprits. And what possible reason can there be for preventing Stella Artois sponsoring a tennis tournament? Did any council members see many drunken teenage yobs on the manicured lawns at Queen's Club this summer? We need to be told. Adland's challenge in attracting top talent.
