Editorial: Buoyant magazine sector is heartening

With newspaper circulations on a gentle slide, radio suffering after a poor first half of 2005 and ITV posting its worst-ever audience share earlier this month, it is heartening to see that the magazine industry is doing rather well (ABC report, page 23). Not only has the sector enjoyed a fevered period of launches, but the new titles have expanded the market, not cannibalised existing magazines. In this advertising climate, that's good news all round.
