EDITORIAL: French admen climb the political ladder

The election of Bernard Brochand, the vice-chairman of DDB

Worldwide, to the French Parliament is the latest reminder of the

long-standing link between advertising and politics in France. Legend

has it that when Marcel Bleustein-Blanchet, the founder of Publicis and

father of French advertising, threw his 80th birthday party, you

couldn't move without tripping over a former prime minister. Will a

septuagenarian Maurice Saatchi ever match such an achievement?
